My Goat Story
My pygmy goat story started about 3 years ago when I was reading about them on the
internet. I could not get over how "cute" they were. I continued to read and learn as
much as I could about these interesting little creatures. I was very attracted to pygmy
goats for a few different reasons. First and for most they would be pets to enjoy, I knew
they were small so they would be great projects for my children to enter in 4-H, they
don't require a huge area (pasture) and they won't eat you out of house and home! It
sounded like a match made in heaven for me, so I started my search for breeders in my
area. We started with a few does, that led to our own buck, and the rest is history:) My
competitive nature wanted more then just 4-H shows, so we started looking for animals to
improve our herd, which led me to Linda Morningstar(
Spring Vale's Pygmy's) Jill
Conklin(Dreamcatcher Pygmy's) and Wayne and Penny Clark (Salt Box Farm Pygmy's)
We acquired some key pieces to the puzzle thanks to these folks. Jill and Linda  both have
been more then kind to me, answering my thousands of questions and really educating me
on the pygmy goats itself, my very good friend Jenny from
Trestlecreek Pygmy's has also
been such a guiding light, not only is she knowledgeable, but a great friend too. I would
not be where I am today without them. Everyone needs someone like this in order to
improve your herd. They're willingness to share really made all the difference. This past
year we finally have kids the ground. We bred two of our does Wildfire and Neka to
Mighty Influence, he has already made a huge impact on my herd. The kids he produced
are better then their mothers. This is crucial, everyone wants to move forward! I look
forward this spring where I hope to have kids on the ground from both Mighty and Lady's
Man. We are planning on spring babies, if all goes as planned:) I would highly recommend
these animals to anyone, they are truly wonderful!!
